Complete guide to finding and registering for sailing regattas on RegattaHub
This guide will help you discover upcoming sailing events and complete your registration on RegattaHub. Whether you're a first-time participant or an experienced sailor, this step-by-step guide will ensure you can successfully register for your next regatta.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- A RegattaHub account (if not, see our Creating an Account guide)
- Your boat information (name, sail number, type/make)
- Emergency contact information
- Payment method (credit card for registration fees)
- Any required boat ratings or certificates for your selected class
Finding Events
Browse Available Regattas

Navigate to the Homepage
- After logging in, you'll see the RegattaHub homepage
- The homepage displays both "Scheduled Regattas" (upcoming events) and "Past Regattas"
- Each regatta card shows key information: dates, location, registration period, entries, and fleets

Use the Search Function
- Use the search bar at the top to find specific events
- Search by regatta name, location, or yacht club
- Filter between scheduled and past events using the tabs

Access All Events
- Click "All Events" in the navigation menu for a complete list
- This view provides the same search and filtering capabilities
- Events are displayed in chronological order by default
Understanding Event Cards
Each regatta card displays:
- Event Name and Host Club: The regatta title and organizing yacht club
- Registration Status: "Registration Open," "Registration Closed," or specific dates
- Event Dates: The racing dates for the regatta
- Location: City and state/country where the event takes place
- Registration Period: Opening and closing dates for registration
- Current Entries: Number of registered boats
- Number of Fleets: Available racing classes
Pay attention to the registration period! Late registration may incur additional fees or may not be available at all.
Understanding Regatta Details
View Event Information
- Click "View Details" on any regatta card to see complete information

The regatta detail page includes multiple tabs:
- Overview: Event description, dates, location, contact information
- Classes: Available racing classes, fees, and boat counts
- Entries: Current list of registered competitors
- Results: Race results (available during/after the event)
- Announcements: Important updates from race organizers
- Notice Board: Official notices and amendments
- Documents: Sailing Instructions, Notice of Race, and other files
- Submit: Forms for protests, scoring inquiries, or withdrawals
Registration Process
Start Your Registration
- Click "Register Now" from the regatta detail page
- You'll be directed to the registration form
- The registration page shows the event name, dates, location, and registration deadline
Complete Skipper Information
The first section collects your personal details:
- Skipper Name: Your name as it will appear in results (you can modify this for each regatta if needed)
- Email Address: Automatically filled from your account (cannot be changed)
- Phone Number: For emergency contact and regatta communications
Add Profile Information (If Required)
Some regattas require additional information:
- Gender: For demographic tracking or specific divisions
- Date of Birth: For age-based categories
- Country: For international events
- Sailing Association Numbers: US Sailing, World Sailing, etc.
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required
Enter Boat Information
This critical section identifies your boat:
- Boat Name: The name of your vessel (2-50 characters)
- Sail Number: Your official sail number (e.g., "US 12345")
- Boat Type/Make: Manufacturer and model (e.g., "J/24", "Viper 640")
- Hull Color: Helps with identification on the water (optional)
- Yacht Club: Your home yacht club
- Home Location: City, State/Country (optional)
Using Saved Boats: Click "Use Saved Boat" to select from previously registered boats. This auto-fills all boat information, though you can still modify details for this specific regatta.
Select Your Racing Class
- Click the "Select Racing Class" dropdown
- Review available classes and their fees
- Select the appropriate class for your boat
- The registration fee will update automatically
- Verify your selection matches your boat type
Ensure you have any required rating certificates before selecting a handicap class
Provide Emergency Contact
Required for all registrations:
- Emergency Contact Name: Someone who can be reached if needed
- Emergency Contact Phone: Valid phone number
- Dietary Restrictions/Allergies: Important for social events (optional)
- Special Requests: Any additional information for organizers (optional)
Review Registration Summary
Before proceeding to payment, review:
- Boat: Name and details entered
- Skipper: Your name
- Crew: Number of crew members
- Class: Selected racing class
- Total Fee: Registration cost
Complete Payment
- Click "Continue to Payment"
- You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure payment page
- Enter your payment information (card number, expiration date, CVC code, billing ZIP code)
- Confirm your payment
- You'll receive a confirmation email with registration details, payment receipt, and next steps from the organizer
If you choose to pay later, you will be subject to late registration fees based on the date that you pay. For example, if you register prior to the late registration fee but don't pay until after, you will have to pay it.
